Overview
Pemba Island is among the last treasured hideaways that are more than simply a place to travel. Pemba Island and the Manta Resort are remote, and tropical, with the culture thriving BECAUSE the resort has integrated every facet of life into their ethos. It is an opportunity to travel regeneratively and leave the community and planet better than when you arrived. Your footsteps will only be heard as you walk to your dive site for the REAL show stopper, exploring the beautiful reefs surrounding the island. The Kwanini Foundation was founded on the question, "Why" and is very much the center of the eco-system created at Manta Resort. Everything that has a place has been consciously thought out and designed to protect the natural wonders of the island. The Kwanini Marine Protected area started as a small project and has expanded to almost half of the water side of the island. Fishing is a main source of food and economic stability, the preserve helps not only the fishermen of today but of the future as well.
Highlights
Underwater Room
Anchored in an ocean floor anomaly we call the blue hole, the floating underwater room tops almost anything. Encapsulated within a turquoise blue bubble, watching shoals of reef fish swim by – sometimes in three or four layers of different species, this is a truly heart-stopping, yet awakening, experience. The floating structure, Swedish engineered, provides three levels, above the water clad in local hardwood is a lounge, bathroom below a stargazing, sun tanning bed. Each one worthy of its own story.
Sandbank Excursion
Rewriting your story can be enhanced from the solitude of the sandbank. Divine timing by the group and the tides is required.
Explore Pemba Excursion
This excursion takes you all around Pemba Island, visiting the ancient Ngezi rainforest, spice farm and other places of interest. Pick and choose what you would like to include on your safari and how much time you would like to spend.
